Est. at the big table

Where legends sit.

Every player who ever sat in the big game started at the small one. This is the road from your first $1/$2 seat to the tables people whisper about: the skills, the bankroll, the study and the nerve.

The Climb

Six tables between you and the big game.

High-limit players aren't born at the nosebleeds. They move up one level at a time, only when the bankroll and the results say so.

I

Micro & home gamesOnline micro stakes · $1/$2 live

Learn the fundamentals: hand ranges, position, pot odds. Track every session. The goal here is volume and good habits, not money.

II

$1/$3 – $2/$5Your first real room

Learn to beat recreational players: value bet thinner, bluff less, read the table. Keep a dedicated poker bankroll, separate from your life money.

III

$5/$10The serious game

Regulars, bigger pots, real pressure. Study with a solver, review hands weekly, and work on your mental game. Most players plateau here.

IV

$10/$20 – $25/$50High stakes

Opponents are pros and wealthy amateurs. Game selection becomes half your edge. Mistakes cost a month's rent.

V

$100/$200 and upThe nosebleeds

Private games, invitation-only tables and televised cash games. Here reputation, discipline and bankroll matter as much as skill.

VI

LegendThe Hall

A handful of players a generation. Read about them below — and remember every one of them once played $1/$2.

Bankroll rule of thumb: many pros keep at least 30–50 buy-ins for the cash-game level they play, and more for tournaments. Move down without ego when you lose a chunk of it.
